How Long Have I Been In The Scene? And More

My name is Madi, I'm a Virgo, uhhh I have been attending shows since I was about fourteen years old, I remember my first show I snuck into a not so kid-friendly place, (DO NOT DO THIS), But anyways, As a child I always found peace and tranqulity in art and music since they were both the only thing I was decent at. Over the years I've seen plenty of bands come and go throughout Charleston, some being big names like Slipknot, In This Moment, and Slowdive. But, The more I found myself at local shows or art showcases the more at home I felt. Not just for the music and art itself but also what it stood for, the REAL meaning behind it all. Politics. I bring this up to say my upbringing may not have been picture perfect, but the grown ups I had to raise me taught me a lot I was taught about everything from the LGBTQ+ Community, Feminism, POC History, to simply just treating others how you would want to be treated. Now that I'm grown I think it's safe to say a lot of politics go into this scene and now in times like this we make it very well known :) I'm sure most of you reading this can relate and this may be a bit TMI but IDC lol for me the scene when I first joined felt like home. A safe and trust-worthy place to be. But, over the years I saw this spiral or shift into something not so good. I eventually left the scene for about a year in 2022 for reasons I can not say here (more personal stuff) But, when I came back it was this place I did not recongize. Which is why I'm here hoping this little funky website could help us Before you go make sure to click the links on the left to support our local organizations. The site may not be in the best condition at the moment, I plan to make this a bigger project in the future But, we are a community and we need change.
